My skin care regime whilst unwell

The last few days have been pretty dreadful.  I’ve been sick with a horrible virus which has completely knocked me for six.  My energy has been at an all time low and my ability to work on the computer has been pretty non-existent.

I have had to cancel a Micro-dermabrasion and remedial massage at Endota Spa, a catch up with my mentor and a dinner with girlfriends Sad smile

I haven’t even managed to apply any makeup!

Even though I haven’t ventured out of the house I have tried to look after my skin with a few products that don’t take a lot of time and energy to use but have great results.

This dreaded lurgy started on Monday but I took a turn for the worst on Wednesday and had to come home from work.  I honestly cannot remember the last time I had off sick.  I normally just power on but this time I just couldn’t.

CLEANSING MY FACE

Skin Physics Dermasonic

The first thing I did was remove my makeup with my Dermasonic (review coming next week).  Even though I didn’t feel like cleansing my face one minute with the Dermasonic and my face was clean and refreshed.

Pamper time

WARM RELAXING BATH

After cleansing I decided to take a warm bath so used my Body Shop Milk Bath for the first time.  This milky emulsion smells beautiful and left my skin feeling soft and moisturised.

FACEMASK

Whilst soaking I used one of the Michika face masks.  This luxurious cloth face mask contains Vitamin’s C & E , Hyaluronic Acid and Green Tea extract to rehydrate and rejuvenate your skin.  I am fairly new to cloth masks but I really enjoyed soaking in the warm bath and relaxing knowing that even though I felt dreadful my skin was going to love me.  And it did!

BODY MOISTURISER

I am very slack when it comes to using body moisturiser.  When I am in the shower I like to use the Nivea In Shower Body Lotion skin conditioner which I reviewed here because it is quick and easy and I don’t need an extra step in the morning.

Because I had a bath I slathered my tired body in the Absolutely Gorgeous hand and body lotion.  This lavender and mandarin scented body lotion feels luxurious and smells absolutely divine.

FACE & EYES

Once I removed the face mask I applied two of my favourite Pevonia products.  The Power Repair Age Correction Marine Collagen Cream and the Eye Contour.  Not only do these lotions look gorgeous on the outside but they are beautiful to apply and make my skin feel and look fabulous.

LIPS & NOSE

I have been slathering my lips and very sore nose in my favourite Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour cream for the last few days and it has really helped keep the redness of my nose at bay and my lips soft and moisturised.

I am happy to say that even though this illness is taking a long time to go away I am slowly feeling stronger each day.  I am grateful that I had a 5 day break to recover and know that when I put my makeup on on Tuesday that my skin is in the best condition due to the few steps that I have taken whilst ill.

What is your skincare routine when you are unwell?  What is your favourite at-home pampering product?

I am finally on the mend thank you Nalini. It has been 2 weeks of hell so I am pleased to be seeing the back of it. I know that you have had a rough year too so I hope that you are feeling much stronger aswell. xxx

Thank you so much. I am finally feeling better after almost 3 weeks! I certainly wouldn’t have wished this illness on anyone as it was a doozy. Yes, I definitely kept up my skincare and beauty routine as I was worried that my skin would show the signs of illness. Luckily by continuing my routine and adding a few extras I looked great even if I didn’t feel it when I returned back to work!
