I know this is REALLY late but I promised a makeup favourites for 2014 and I have finally uploaded it – better late than never!
So without further adieu here they are:
L’Oreal True Match Foundation (reviewed here)
This is by far the best drugstore foundation that I have trialled. From first application I was in love and I wear it almost every day. It applies like a dream, leaves my skin looking flawless and dewy and doesn’t settle in my fine lines. I have 2 bottles in back up already!
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (reviewed here)
I own many high end foundations and this is the foundation that I always gravitate towards. My skin looks airbrushed and the foundation photographs well even though it contains an SPF15.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
I purchased this due to seeing many, many beauty bloggers rave about it and I can certainly see why. I love the coverage under my eyes and once set with translucent powder it does not crease in my fine lines. I have also purchased the brightening version and use that when I find I need a little extra lightening.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
My girlfriend from the UK purchased this for me as I had heard fabulous things about this budget buy. It has been compared to the Nars Creamy concealer and although I don’t own the Nars version I am thrilled with the coverage that I receive from this beautiful concealer.
Clarins Crayon Kohl in Intense Brown (reviewed here)
I own two of these Clarins Kohl pencils and I love them both. They are super creamy to apply and once ‘set’ they last all day. If you wish to go for a smoky eye look the small brush on the opposite end is a great inclusion.
Max Factor Liquid Effect pencil (featured here)
I have been struggling to find a black eyeliner pencil that lasts well on my water line but this pencil works like a dream. I use this to tightline and I don’t have any transfer onto my bottom waterline which is my normal complaint. The silicon ‘smudger’ is also great addition and one that I use regularly.
Maybelline Master Precise liquid liner (reviewed here)
This liner is definitely a ‘HOLY GRAIL’ for me. I have purchased at least 6 of these in the last few years and I always have a couple in backup. No other felt tipped liquid liner comes close. I have hooded eyelids that slant downwards which causes me to struggle when attempting a ‘cat eye’, but by using the Master Precise liquid liner I almost always assured of a beautiful defined line which lasts all day.
Shu Uemura gel liner
This beautiful glossy black gel liner from Shu Uemura has won my heart in 2014 for its finish, longevity and ease of use. When applied with a fine brush it is easy to achieve an opaque, long lasting finish that does not budge all day.
Max Factor Masterpiece Transform (featured here)
A few months ago I would have almost bet money on me including the Benefit They’re Real mascara in this category. It is still one that I reach for, but the Max Factor Masterpiece Transform mascara has pipped it to the prize as it not only offers me thicker, fuller and longer lashes but it also holds the curl better than any mascara I have ever used. I have 2 backups in my collection so that I never run out. I just LOVE IT!
Rimmel London Moisture Renew lipstick in Piccadilly Pink (review here)
From first swipe this was instant love – not only is the colour gorgeous, but it feels so creamy and moisturising on the lips. I achieve good colour pay off and it doesn’t settle in my fine lines around my mouth which is definitely an added bonus!
BITE Beauty lip pencil in Velvet and Lipstick in Quince
I recently discovered BITE Beauty after my girlfriend couldn’t stop raving about them. When Natural Supply Co launched I took the opportunity to purchase some of the range and I now know why everyone loves them so much. The colours are gorgeous and the finish of both the pencils and the lipsticks is lovely. I regularly use my Quince lipstick as a stain for a more work appropriate look and then amp it up at night by applying it straight from the bullet. I know that my BITE Beauty collection will be expanding in 2015!
Curtis Collection by Victoria baked bronzer
This beautiful bronzer has been my ‘go to’ for the last 5 months or so and it looks like I have hardly used it! I love the subtle blend of the two colours which looks extremely natural on my fair skin. It doesn’t have any shimmer to it which makes it a perfect bronzer to use during the day and I know that it will continue to be a favourite into 2015.
Chanel Cream blush in Revelation
This blush was given to me by my Mum as it didn’t suit her skintone. What a score! I adore this beautiful pinky/coral cream blush as it works well with all of my foundations (regardless of finish) and is a brilliant colour to layer under any of my powder blushes (regardless of colour tone). It is a great all rounder.
Benefit Lollitint (reviewed here)
This tint from Benefit scared the bejesus out of me the first time I clapped eyes on it as I couldn’t imagine the purple toned tint to look natural on the cheeks at all. Who wears purple blush? Well, I was completely wrong as Lollitint has become my favourite of all of the Benefit tints. It is a regular in my makeup routine and I suggest you check it out for yourself.
ELES coral sun mineral blush (featured here)
The ELES mineral blushes have won my heart for their pigmentation and their longevity. I own 4 of their blushes and Coral Sun is my favourite as it works exceptionally well with my colouring. It adds a pop of colour without it overtaking my whole face.
Clarins Graphic Expression face & blush powder (reviewed here)
When I am looking for a soft, natural cheek I always gravitate towards this Clarins palette. The blend of colours works beautifully as none of them over powers the other when swirled together on the brush. You end up with a lovely soft flush of colour that makes you look ‘healthy’.
Tom Ford She Wolf eyeshadow palette
These have to be the most beautifully buttery eyeshadows that I have in my collection. They apply like a dream and last all day without creasing. The glittery shade adds extra ‘wow’ for nighttime and by adding a small swipe of this in the middle of the eyelid really helps to open up the eye.
Benefit Stay don’t stray eye primer
Before Christmas I was sent a gorgeous eye palette from Benefit which included this very cute Stay Don’t Stray eye primer. I had heard great things about this product so was really pleased to discover that those reviews were right. I love that I can use this both on my eyelids and under my eyes to help keep my eyeshadow and concealer in place. It has become a staple in my makeup routine.
Bourjois eyeshadow (used as an illuminator) (used here)
This Bourjois eyeshadow is my ‘go to’ illuminator and has been for at least 3 years. Whilst it is labelled as an eyeshadow it is a perfect illuminator as it offers a gorgeous luminous glow to the cheeks without any glitter. I also love it as an eyeshadow and often add a highlight in the corners of my eyes to open them up. It is a great multi-tasking product.
Phew that was a big list. I am still loving every single product on this list and am looking forward to seeing what new products win my heart in 2015.
