Over the weekend you probably saw on Instagram my handbag lipstick stash. I knew that it was getting pretty heavy, but even I was surprised when I decided to take action and pull out all of the lip products so I could lighten the load.
I have a small makeup bag that I keep in my handbag which contains all of my essentials, but these are the lip products that I discovered had accumulated over the past few weeks.
I have a habit of grabbing a new lipstick and throwing it in my handbag to apply when I get to work and often I just keep adding to the collection. What I am wearing will determine the lipstick for the day so often I will end up with colours ranging from red to pink and everything in between.
L – R Kiko Instantly Lavish Lipstick in 04, Rimmel The One lipstick in #200, Kiko Velvet Mat Lipstick in #612, L’Oreal Colour Riche lipstick in 133 in Rosewood, Vani-T Mineral Lip colour in LaFemme, Rimmel The One lipstick in #120, YSL Volupte Tint in Oil in #3 Undress Me, BITE Beauty Lip crayon in Chablis, Uriage Stick Levres
Kiko Instantly Lavish lipstick in 04 – this has the most amazing staying power and even though it is a matte finish I don’t feel it dries my lips out. This is a deep pinky red which has become my ‘go to’ when I am going out at night as I know I won’t have to reapply
Rimmel The One lipstick in #200 It’s a Keeper –I have fallen hard for these new lipsticks from Rimmel. They apply so smoothly with a lot of ‘slick’ that you would imagine the finish to be glossy. It isn’t. It dries down to a beautifully comfortable matte which has fabulous staying powers. This one is a great ‘pinky mauve’ on me and has been in high rotation.
#120 You’re All Mine second from left and #200 It’s a Keeper third from left
Kiko Velvet Mat Lipstick in #612 – this lipstick is more ‘subtle’ in colour than the Instantly Lavish lipstick so is a great option when I want a more natural matte lipstick. I love how this feels on the lips and as mentioned here I wish I had bought more from this brand.
L’Oreal Colour Riche lipstick in 133 in Rosewood – About 6 months ago I was lucky to receive a prize pack from Tine from Beautyholics Anonymous and this beautiful L’Oreal colour riche lipstick was included. The minute I laid eyes on it I knew the colour would be perfect for me and I am thrilled that the formula is equally appealing. I am going to buy a back up of this as I never want to run out!
Vani-T Mineral Lip colour in LaFemme – Now who wouldn’t want to whip this beautiful lipstick out and show this off? I ADORE the casing of this mineral lipstick from one of my favourite South Australian brands, but it is not only beautiful on the outside. The mineral lipstick is long lasting and creamy as it contains vitamin E, coconut oil and aloe extract which means your lips feel beautifully hydrated all day. I have a couple of these in my collection and am looking forward to adding more.
Rimmel The One lipstick in 120 You’re all mine – This is the perfect pink which would suit most skintones. This is a more fuschia pink than #200 and is the one when I want a more statement pink lip.
YSL Volupte Tint in Oil in #3 Undress Me – not being a big fan of lipglosses the YSL Volupte Tint in Oil is a perfect product to add a bit of shine to my matte lipsticks. I love that this doesn’t feel sticky at all and as this is a very subtle colour it can be used over all of my lipsticks without it altering the colour underneath. It also looks beautiful when you whip it out of your bag when you need to reapply your lip product
BITE Beauty Lip crayon in Chablis – this is the red to wear when you don’t want the commitment of a red lipstick (at least for me). I struggle to wear a full on red lipstick as I feel it can be a bit overpowering for me, but when I want that look I whip out the BITE Beauty lip crayon in Chablis. This has wonderful longevity and feels beautifully comfortable all day long. I am wanting to add more of these to my collection and already have my eye on a few at The Natural Supply Co.
Uriage Stick Levres – I love this matte lipbalm as this can be used both underneath my lipsticks if I feel I need a little extra hydration, but can also be used over the top of my matte lipsticks without adding a glossy shine. This is also the perfect balm to share with the males in your life as it adds moisture without leaving them with glossy lips!
As you can see, I took the Uriage Stick Levres away with me on our overseas trip and you can learn more here.
I am proud to say that my handbag is now clear of lip products, but I know it will only be a matter of time before I am faced with exactly the same problem.
I’m linking up with Monday Makeup madness over here.
How many lip products do you currently have in your handbag? Are you a hoarder like me?
