I often get asked ‘What’s in your handbag?’, so today I am showing you the items that are always in there.
This weekend I finally got around to emptying out my handbag. It is a job that I hate doing but it had become a necessity when I was finding it particularly difficult to carry due to its weight.
I am one of those people who has a habit of adding more and more until it becomes painfully obvious that I need to take action and downsize.
I knew I had a lot of lip products in there, but even I was surprised with the sheer number – so much so that I shared a post about them here.
In today’s post I am sharing with you the items that I have in my handbag at all times (excluding lip products).
NatraSan Instant hand sanitiser
Since discovering the NatraSan spray I have completely swapped from using liquid hand sanitisers as they used to leave my hands feeling sticky and I absolutely hated the smell.
The NatraSan instant hand sanitisers leave my hands feeling clean with no sticky residue and the fragrances are gorgeous. They come in four varieties including Aloe Vera & Cucumber, Chamomile & Apple Blossom, Vitamin E & Jojoba and Kakadu Plum & Vanilla. I love them so much that I have them in my handbag, in the car, and at work, and have recommended them to so many people that I should take shares in the Company!
Maybelline FitMe Pressed Powder in 120 Classic Ivory
You know how much I love the Maybelline Fit Me foundations, well I also love the pressed powder (and the concealer). I don’t often have to retouch my makeup during the day, but I always ensure I have this powder in my bag in case I need it. I love that the compact is sturdy, has room for a powder puff and contains a mirror. This means I don’t have to carry a separate mirror when I need to do lipstick touch ups which is a huge bonus.
I received this Evelyn Iona concealer sample in a recent Lust Have It! bag and it is the perfect sized concealer to have in my handbag. I love the consistency and it is the perfect colour for my undereye area which has a tendency to get darker the more tired I get regardless as to how much concealer I applied in the morning. I can easily apply this using my fingers and it really helps to conceal and also brighten up my dark circles.
I have no idea where I got my cute sample of the Balm Hot Mama! blush but it is the perfect size to keep in my handbag for touch ups throughout the day. The colour reminds me of Orgasm by Nars and is the perfect mix of coral and pink which means that no matter which colour I have put on in the morning I can confidently apply a little swipe of this and know it will work with the rest of my day’s makeup.
CALA retractable blush brush
I received this CALA retractable blush brush from a Wantable box in 2013. It has been in my handbag ever since as it is the perfect size to work with the Hot Mama! blush and I love that due to it being retractable it stays clean in my bag.
Benefit They’re Real Mascara sample
Having a few samples of the Benefit They’re Real Mascara it was inevitable one would end up in my handbag. I have made no secret of my love of this mascara and even though I choose to wear the Benefit Roller Lash more now, I still love this one so am happy to know I have a spare in my bag when I need it.
CareDent PerioTape Mini 15m dental flossing tape
Since I had my surgery to remove a tumour in my jaw my teeth have been moving which has resulted in gaps opening up between my teeth. It may only be a millimetre here and a millimetre there but it has meant there is now room for food to get caught more easily. The gap between one of my top rear teeth is such that I regularly get food caught there and it can often be painful until I remove it. I now ensure I have one of the CareDent PerioTape mini’s in my handbag so I can discreetly remove the offending food.
Not wanting to lug around a huge bottle of perfume everyday, I regularly have perfume samples in my bag so I can have a quick spritz if I feel I need a ‘pick me up’.
If I know I will be needing to reapply perfume throughout the day, maybe because I am going out straight after work, I will have a spritz from my sample perfume in the morning and then throw it in my bag so I can reapply later in the day. This is a great way of trying a new perfume and testing to see how it works with your body chemistry without committing to a full sized bottle if you are considering a change. I never buy a perfume without testing it for a full day as I have been caught out before and had to give away full bottles of perfume as Mr SBB hasn’t liked it on me.
There may be the occasional extra item that gets thrown in if I am going out that evening – maybe eyeliner, handcream or a small sample of foundation, but other than that I have all bases covered with these items that stay in my handbag in case of ‘beauty emergencies’.
What beauty products do you have in your handbag? Do you just stick with lip products or do you have makeup items too?
