Dr Hauschka Spectacular Comeback makeup Collection

Earlier in the year I was one of the South Australian State Rep’s for an event where Dr Hauschka was represented.  I had heard of their skincare products, but I was surprised to learn that they had quite an extensive cosmetics line.

After receiving an email from Dr Hauschka showing their Autumn Colour Collection I hoped I could have the opportunity to try some of the range for myself.  I couldn’t believe it when they sent me the whole limited edition range to try!

The range is called the Spectactular Comeback as it features products that were limited editions from previous years that are all tried and tested favourites.

Kajal Eyeliner 08 Taupe RRP $30   Balancing Teint Powder RRP $54   Rouge Powder Duo RRP $50   Eyeshadow Trio RRP $64   Lipstick Novum 08 Maple Glow RRP $36

Spectacular comeback - Dr Hauschka

Looking at these products I knew that they would get a great workout in my routine as they are the colours I am naturally drawn to.

Foundation 01 $60

What they say:

Dr. Hauschka Foundation not only gives you a radiantly vibrant and even complexion, it also helps your skin to retain its moisture and protects it against external influences. The formulation combines medicinal plant extracts with mineral pigments and vegetable waxes and oils, including pomegranate essence, macadamia nut oil and coconut oil.

What I say:

Upon opening the first thing I am aware of is the strong ‘floral’ scent.  Fortunately I am not overly sensitive to fragrance otherwise this could be an issue for those who are as it takes a good half an hour for it to dissipate.

The foundation glides onto the skin to offer a light coverage which reminds me a little of bb cream.  Preferring a more medium to full coverage once the first layer set I applied a second to the areas that I felt needed it.  This is where I came into some trouble.  The foundation ‘balled up’ and I ended up having to remove it and start again.

I have been choosing to wear it on the weekend when I just want a little help evening out my skintone, but as this is the perfect foundation for my daughter who likes a light coverage I will be sharing the love and giving this to her when she comes home next.

Kajal eyeliner $30 08 Taupe

Kajal eyeliner 08

What they say:

Earthy tone that’s softer than black, and suits every eye colour for a flattering, expressive eye makeup. The rich formula features a composition of botanical oils and waxes. Precious Marula Oil moisturises and protects the area around the eye. The pencil is gentle to apply while the integrated applicator makes it easy to smudge for a softer look.

What I say:

I have loved wearing this beautiful Taupe eyeliner instead of my normal black as it offers a much subtle eye look which is perfect for everyday.  It complements my blue eyes perfectly and is very soft to apply.  The added smudger on the opposite end is bonus inclusion.

My only criticism is the description of the colour – I would say it is more of a grey than a taupe – but no matter what colour it is, it is beautiful.

Lipstick Novum 08 Maple Glow RRP $36

Lipstick Novum 08 Maple Glow

What they say:

Leaves your lips feeling soft and silky thanks to the composition of precious Argan Oil and Beeswax as well as mineral pigments and medicinal plant extracts, colour and lip care in one, giving extra protection for the cooler months.

What I say:

This lipstick applies beautifully and leaves your lips feeling moisturised and protected.  This colour is more of a ‘nude’ on me so when it wears off it does so subtly and evenly.  A quick re-application around lunchtime and I am set for the rest of the day.

Being more of a pink/berry lipstick wearer I am slowly getting used to wearing more nude colours so the Novum lipstick is a great new addition to my collection.

Eyeshadow Trio $64

What they say:

The Eyeshadow Trio features flattering colours in three different textures: sparkling, shimmering and matte to create harmonious nuances of colour. All three eyeshadows contain fine Silk Powder and extracts of Anthyllis, Witch Hazel and Black Tea to care for the delicate skin around the eyes.

What I say:

I am seriously in love with this palette.  I am hard to please when it comes to eyeshadows as I expect them to apply well, not crease and to have longevity.  And I am happy to report the eyeshadow trio from Dr Hauschka ticks all of those boxes.

I decided to test these eyeshadows without any primer to really gauge how well they lasted and even after 8 hours of wear they still maintained their finish and colour payoff.  I noticed no creasing and I adore how the three colors work together.

The lightest colour is also the perfect highlight colour for your cheekbones and cupid’s bow.

Rouge Powder Duo RRP $50

Rouge Powder Duo

What they say:

A delicate rosy touch of colour to the cheeks.

What I say:

As you would know, I am a serious blush hoarder.  I think my blush collection may even surpass my lipstick collection!

It was love at first sight when I saw this beautiful pink powder duo.  You can apply the colours individually or sweep them together to produce a beautiful pink rosy glow.  I normally apply a cream blush and then apply a powder blush over the top but I experimented with just the powder duo and the colour pay off and longevity was very impressive.  Due to the tone of these blushes I can wear this blush with both my pink and coral lipsticks which makes it a very versatile blush – especially for travel.

Balancing Teint Powder RRP $54

Dr Hauschka Balancing Teint Powder

What they say:

Set Foundation and give the complexion a beautifully smooth appearance. The three colours included in the powder compact suit every skin tone. Contains Silk Powder to give the skin a soft, velvety feel.

The trade visitors at Vivaness (the leading International Natural & Organic Trade Fair) voted Balancing Teint Powder the Best NEW Product in the Make-Up Category.

What I say:

What a fabulous product.  It is not hard to see why it won the ‘Best New Product Award at Vivaness 2016’.

I have never used a three colour powder before and I was a little nervous at first as I thought I may end up looking a bit ‘muddy’.  I did a quick swirl of a large powder brush picking up all three colours and powdered as normal and the finish was perfect.  The powder is finely milled and left my skin looking polished without looking ‘powdery’.

The darker of the three shades is perfect for contouring the nose and the lightest is great for setting your undereye concealer.

Spectacular comeback - Dr Hauschka

I am delighted to have discovered that Dr Hauschka is more than just skincare.  Their range is huge and includes products for your body, hair, and bath, and they also offer starter and travel kits which are a perfect way to discover more of their range.

The only product that I won’t be continuing to use on an everyday basis is the foundation, but I will be gifting it to my daughter who I know will love it.  The eyeliner, eyeshadow, blush and powder have all been in high rotation over the last few weeks and I am sure you will see them pop up in future posts.

Dr Hauschka products are available to order online or through their authorised stockists.

  1. says

I knew Dr Hauschka did makeup, but hadn’t looked at them for a while. I like the look of the blush duo (sounds perfect for travel) & even the nude lipstick has me intrigued, even though nudes make me look dead. It looks more like a pink-brown nude, so maybe I could get away with it.

  2. Andrea says

Great to read a first-hand account of Dr Hauschka products Kate – thank you. The brand often pops up online through the toxin-free makeup stores where I shop, but I didn’t know of anyone who’d tried them.

The eyeliner sounds like the exact shade I’ve been looking for in a natural eyeliner for years. For some reason, a good grey is especially hard to find! Their ingredient list is impressively clean too. I’ll be buying this for sure.

  3. says

Impressive indeed. This is my first time to hear about this brand and I am impressed. I think its def something worth checking out.

  4. Trish Drinkwater says

Love the sound of these, Kate. I’m really pleased you were sent the complete collection. The blush definitely sounds like me, too. Great reviews of the products and especially good that they are reasonably priced.
